I am an eleventh day worker.

I never post anything serious anymore, but I will right now just because I've been learning a lot and I want to share at least a bit of it. I am reading this book by Jerry Bridges called "Transforming Grace" given to me by a guy at my church..and it is by far the most impacting book (besides the Bible of course) that I have read.
I'd encourage you to go read the parable of the landowner in Matthew 20:1-16 again if you haven't recently...I've read it many times but have never really thought about it so much. The fact that God pays according to His grace and not merit or debt hasn't been as clear as it is now to me. Can you imagine? Needing work so badly, knowing that if you don't, you won't have food to feed your family that night? And then along comes a landowner, who already has enough workers who have been working 11 days already, but by generosity hires you because you are in need. And then, at the end of the day, he not only pays you for the amount of work you did in just one day, but he pays you the same amount as he pays the workers who have been working the past 11 days. He promised them a denarius when they began and he promised you a denarius when you began. This is incredible...it seems so unfair when I first think about it. It not only shows how generous our God is, but how sovereign when the landowner says, "Is it not lawful for me to do what I wish with what is my own? Or is your eye envious because I am generous?"

The author also told a story of an aged former slave- his former master left him an inheritance of $50,000, which had been deposited in a bank. He didn't even realize how much money it really was. The banker called him to remind him it was there, and he asked the banker if he could have fifty cents for a sack of corn meal. We just don't understand the "grace upon grace" that God has given us.

So, I've been in Huntington Beach CA this past week. My dad was on a work trip so we went with him, and his work paid for us to stay in a super expensive and "nice" Hilton right on the beach. We got there, there was one bed, so I slept on the floor. Which I'm not complaining about...it's actually good for my back when i sleep on the floor. There was only valet parking, so when we wanted to use the car, that meant we had to have cash to tip the guys. There was no free continental breakfast, no (free) hair dryer, no fridge, no microwave, no free internet, etc. Well, right now we are more than half way home, and are staying in a Hampton hotel, much much cheaper than a Hilton....I have my own bed, we have a fridge, microwave, hair dryer, free breakfast in the morning, free internet.
I know it sounds like all i'm doing is complaining, but i'm not...i thoroughly enjoyed this whole week. My point is, why in the world would anyone spend so much money just to stay in a hotel where you are just going to need to spend more money for things that cheaper hotels give you for free? It just doesn't make any sense.

so, I finished school today. It's a good feeling. But, I surely remember the days of going to actual school, the last day of school each year was like the best day out of that whole year. Everyone was happy. Knowing I could go to the pool tomorrow and sleep in was the best feeling. But now, nothing is different, I just have even more free time than before. But hey, summer time is summer time, everyone's living easy and not so stressed out. And, there are those vacations and mission trips to be had, so, summer is just as good as ever i guess. The pictures are huntington beach and guatemala. They will make up my summer.

oh boy

so, doing schooling online i did not realize would be this stressful towards the end of the year. this semester i totally slacked and now im paying for it big time. i have less than 4 weeks to get all of it done, im only 60-70% done with 4 of the classes, i finished 2 others. this stinks. pray for me to really work when i plan to work, and to be diligent so that i dont have to retake any classes next year because of not finishing them!

tallah 2

this is tallah either pushing the little orange creature on the ground or trying to help it up.

tallah

this is my new dog, Tallah. Yes, allah, with a "t". It rhymes with "holla"She is only a few months old, but is very large already. She chews on a lot of things. one of my favorite bags, and two pairs of shoes are now gone. But, I like her still. She was got by the reasoning that my mom had gotten the new dishes she had been wanting, so i should have a dog. She is very cute. My sentences are as short as a 1st grader's. I cant leave anyhting in my room to where she can get to it...even my bed...but i suppose that will have to stay on the ground. she chews on it. I say "no" a hundred times a day, but she's worth it
